Illegal Hiring a Major Social Problem

Many communities in the United States are groaning under the burden put on them by the illegal hiring practices of some businesses.

Illegal hiring harms communities by forcing down wages for other members of the community—often those members who can least afford it. It shrinks the tax base, while increasing the demand on public services.

For decades, employers who illegally buy the cheap labor of illegal aliens have reaped the financial rewards, while their communities have suffered.

Perhaps even more victimized than the general public are other employers—those who play by the rules. Their reward has been an enormous competitive disadvantage—sometimes even financial ruin. Yet, year after year, administration after administration, they have watched as unscrupulous competitors are rewarded financially with apparent impunity.

How fair is that?
